Matt Gruetzner brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to Mock Ranches, blending his extensive career in the oil and gas industry with a deep passion for Texas land. His years of traveling the country and working with people from all walks of life have shaped his ability to connect with clients and understand their unique goals.
What began as a personal hobby—searching for and acquiring properties across Texas—has grown into a full-time calling. Over the years, Matt has navigated every stage of land ownership, from conservation and habitat restoration to infrastructure improvements, often collaborating with organizations such as the NRCS, USDA, and the Lost Pines Habitat Conservation. He continues to manage a small herd of Santa Gertrudis cattle with direct King Ranch lineage and takes pride in enhancing his properties—whether he’s mulching with the skid steer or clearing brush with the dozer.
Recognized nationally for his expertise, Matt was named 2024 National Land Broker of the Year and holds the prestigious Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation, a testament to his commitment to excellence in land brokerage. His insight into today’s dynamic Texas land market, coupled with his hands-on experience, allows him to guide clients through both investment opportunities and long-term stewardship.
A graduate of Southwestern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Matt also played four years of collegiate baseball. It was during his junior year, while interning with the Houston Astros, that he met his future wife, Amanda. In 2015, the couple purchased raw land in Paige, Texas, where they built their dream home. Today, they share it with their 9-year-old son Mason, their Catahoula pup Mia, and their German Shorthair Bailey. The Gruetzners are loyal Astros season ticket holders, and when not working, they can be found hunting, riding the ranger, swimming, or simply enjoying time together on the land they love.
