In real estate since 1987 when I started as an appraiser working five years toward the MAI designation before being recruited to work in land acquisitions for two Fortune 500 companies. Later spent several years developing my own communities including a 900 acre project in western North Carolina that is still going strong. After three years running a 34,000 acre operation in Guyana, South America in which I oversaw the construction of a 41 mile road through raw jungle, I returned to my brokerage business in North Carolina. Joined Keller Williams in 2016 with my primary firm, Retreat Realty, Ltd. specializing in farms, large land tracts, homesteads, off-grid and prepper properties in the mountain counties surrounding Asheville. I m the only agent in western North Carolina with this specialty niche and am one of only four corporate sponsors of Preppernet.com which has nearly 10,000 members. Have been within the top 1% of KW agents in the Asheville market in terms of closed volume for 2018 and 2019 and named a Top 100 broker out of more than 2,200 area agents. I m a regular contributor to magazine articles and a blogger on the subject of sustainable living, homesteading and disaster preparedness and have been recruited by more than one television production company for a reality show (I declined all of them). I understand land, land development and land planning. Have spoken many times in front of county commissioners and town councils on behalf of myself and clients.
